Biography

Don Morgan began his martial arts training in karate before discovering Aikido in 1974 under the instruction of Colin Morgan. He joined the British Aikido Federation (BAF) in 1976 and was awarded Sankyu and Nikyu in 1979. In 1980, he received special promotion to Shodan at the BAF Summer School at Bangor University under Chiba Sensei and Kanetsuka Sensei.


A committed contributor to the art, Don Morgan joined the BAF National Committee in 1979 and served until 2022. He became a member of the BAF Technical Grading Committee in 1992.


In 1996, he travelled to Japan to prepare for his Godan, training for two weeks with Kisshomaru Ueshiba, the second Doshu. He received his Godan in 1997 and was promoted to 7th Dan in December 2020. 


In 2021, Don Morgan was appointed Senior Instructor for Wales and continues to support the development of Aikido across the region.
